Canon Kodak EOS DCS-3C Digital Camera + Astroscope

1995 Canon Kodak EOS DCS-3C Digital Camera with Canon 75-300mm Ultrasonic Zoom Lens and Electrophysics Astroscope (Night Vision Scope). This is the first generation of professional digital camera. The system uses a modified Canon EOS-1N film camera with a modified Kodak NC2000e digital camera back attached. It maintains the Canon EF lens mount and full compatibility with all of Canon's EF lenses and Astroscope made until that time. This was one of the high tech reconnaissance cameras used by Navy SEALs, USMC Force Recon, and US SOF in the mid-1990s.

All images are stored in a Gen 3 PCMCIA Card (PC card). The PCMCIA card is later inserted into a laptop computer (Panasonic Toughbooks) for data transfer through Satcom Radios.

Battlefield-proven Electrophysics AstroScope is an advanced night vision module which incorporates a state-of-the-art image intensifier tube that transforms dark scenes into bright, high-resolution images. The Canon AstroScope is specifically designed for Canon EOS-type cameras and mounts between the camera body and Canon EOS lens using the standard Canon bayonet. AstroScope incorporates a high quality optic designed specifically for digital SLR cameras and delivers full frame images with little or no vignetting, transforming the Canon EOS camera into a Night Vision System.

Wilcox Mission Helmet Recording System MHRS (L4 Dashboard)

-The MHRS is a self-contained camera system that allows user to record audio and video in Point of View in both day and night.

-System uses a powered mount and ratchet strip that accepts hard drive recorder and CR123A power packs with quick detach buttons.

-Camera is affixed to L4 shroud for daytime use and affixes to the Amber filter eyecup for recoding through angled prism in night vision operation.

-Camera module is pressure fit into the shroud housing as well as the Amber filter.

-User views the NVG tube normally as the prism is see- through, the camera records the image perpendicular to the wear’s eye.

-Recorder tapes to removable 8GB compact flash cards for 8 hours of video or 5 days of audio only capture.

-System vibrates to let user know of recording activation

Wilcox Mission Helmet Recording System MHRS (L3 Dashboard)

Used by the Navy Seal in the 2010s, this is an older generation of the Wilcox Mission Helmet Recording System (MHRS). It is comprised of a L3 Dashboard Assembly with miniature Day and Night Camera Module, Quick Change TM Power Supply Module, Miniature Video and Audio Recorder that all mount to a MICH/ACH helmet by means of a powered track. This unique track carries power from a Quick Change TM Power Supply Module to the mounted devices. This system provides eight hours of high resolution audio and video imagery.

Miniature Day/Night Camera mounts to a Dovetail Shoe on the Dashboard for day operation. For night operation, the camera mounts to an AN/PVS-15/18 AN/PVS-14 or BNVD eyecup interface and prism that mounts to the NVG to capture nighttime video as seen through the NVG without obstructing the operator’s image. The amber filter provides a tactical advantage, greatly reducing green eye splash common to all NVG devices.

Miniature audio microphone attaches to the Miniature Recording Module for audio capture.

Uniquely designed Modular Powered Track easily secures to the MICH/ACH helmet by means of a patented Ratcheting Cinch Mechanism.

Recorder Module provides for download to a computer through a concealed USB Connection Port.
