MC-4 Ram Air Free-Fall Personnel Parachute System

Period 1990s. MC-4 is the standard military free fall parachute system of the US Army Special Forces in the 1990s. It was later replaced by the MC-5 and RA-1 Ram-Air Parachute System. The MC-4 is designed to meet the full range of military free fall parachute operations, including HALO (high altitude, low opening) and HAHO (high altitude, high opening) parachute jumps.

The MC-4 parachute system is a dual parachute system with similar main and reserve canopies. The main and reserve canopies are 7-cell, 370 sq. ft. rectangular gliding canopy design. Both parachutes are located on the back of the parachutist leaving the front clear for mounting additional equipment or instrumentation. The principles used in its construction allow it to have high forward speed, a 3 to 1 glide ratio, and excellent maneuverability. In an emergency, the ram air system uses a single point canopy release to jettison the main canopy and deploy the reserve canopy. The reserve parachute uses a free bag deployment system, a high drag pilot chute, and an 18-foot bridle line with deployment assist pockets; each designed to increase the reliability of the reserve parachute in an emergency.

The Harness is adjustable at 7 points, and has provisions for a main ripcord release or reserve automatic ripcord release. The MC-4 is completely compatible with the proven Cypres AAD or Irvin FF-2 automatic ripcord release, as well as other automatic ripcord releases qualified for use by the US Army, for assured activation of the main parachute. The MC-4 also has an adjustable belly band and 4 equipment rings, that accept all current oxygen bottles, radios, navigation aids, weapons, rucksacks, equipment bags and lowering lines.

Parachutist Navigation Board- Standard

Period 2013. The Wilcox Parachutist Navigation Board (Standard Version) is a light weight navigation platform designed to provide High Altitude High Opening (HAHO) parachutist the ability to navigate via a backlit Floating Ball Compass, a handheld GPS unit, and an Altimeter. For covert night time operations, the Ball Compass features a red LED back light that can be illuminated at high or low power mode via a three position power switch.

The board also features an adjustable, multi-angled articulating back plate and a hinge system that allows the parachutists to deploy the Navigation Board once safely under parachute canopy. The board can be worn by the parachutist via a Rhodesian Vest, attached to the waistband of the parachutist harness, or mounted on the top of the front-mounted ruck.

Integrated Ballistic Helmet (IBH) + PM HALO/HAHO Oxygen Mask + X500 Attacker Goggles

Integrated Ballistic Helmet (IBH)
Integrated ballistic helmet was designed and built by ILC Dover in 1995 to 1996. Only 741 Unit were produced, mainly for USSOCOM and FBI use. Designed with weight reduction and integration of specific communication system called AHS (Ambient Hearing System). System granted the user hearing protection with increased communication ability with prewired boom mics, radio connections for both PRC and Motorola use, dual radio ability as well as environmental monitoring through ambient noise detection. IBH was also designed to interface with wide variety of oxygen mask systems for HALO and airborne operations such as the PHAOS, MBU as well as gas masks.

Bolle X500 Attacker Tactical Goggles

It is made with a lightweight, flexible PVC frame, comfortable 8 mm PVC foam and a double polycarbonate and acetate lens system. The Attacker is Bolle's original tactical goggle and also offers superior dust and ballistic protection for tactical, safety and the outdoor ATV environment. The flexible frame of Bolle Attacker Tactical Goggle X500 uses a double pin retention system to secure the lens and special grooves are built into the sides to accommodate glasses. The face foam of Bolle Attacker Tactical Goggles is made of soft PVC, 8 mm thick, for a good seal and comfort. The Double Lens of Bolle X500 Attacker Tactical Goggles creates a thermal barrier to prevent fogging and provide added protection. The outer lens is 1.44 mm polycarbonate and the inner lens is .7 mm acetate, giving 2.4 mm of total protection.

1990s US SOF Pro-Tec Helmet HALO setup: The Pro-Tec helmet has bayonet lugs attached to the sides for an oxygen mask. There is also a boom mic mount base located at the bottom left for communication setup. The front of the helmet has a block made by duct tape to secure the skydiving goggles from sliding off when it is over the helmet. Pictures also feature a Scott MBU-12/P oxygen mask and a Kroop’s skydiving boogie goggles.
